Better Start Late than Remain Wanting — Scripted, Unscripted, or a Mix?

This episode is a little different. For once, I don’t have a full script in front of me. You might have noticed that in past episodes, I’ve often read from one. I’ve even mentioned it mid-recording!

In the early days of my podcast (back when it was Ill Zebra’s Transformations), scripting made sense. I was reading translations of fiction, sharing original stories, and even acting out a few scenes. Later, when I moved toward more informational episodes, there was simply too much detail to memorize without notes.

But today? Just bullet points. No complete script. I’m not sure how long this will run, how it will turn out, or whether it will land exactly as I hope — but I do know it feels like an adventure. And it’s definitely a personal challenge.

Picking Up from Ellen, Marta, and Nicole

If you listened to Episode 22, you’ll remember my three fictional avatars: Ellen, Marta, and Nicole. Each was in an unsatisfactory situation — ready for change, but not quite sure how to start.

Marta’s case stood out. She had a warm home life but struggled to feel fully integrated in the U.S. She dreamed of leaving a legacy for her grandchildren but felt her English — or maybe just her accent — was holding her back.

I relate deeply to all three women because I’ve been where they are. I’ve faced their doubts and limitations, and I’ve worked through them. That’s why I want to help women like them make that transition faster and with more confidence.

The Money Conversation Women Rarely Have

One pattern I’ve noticed — and I think many of you will agree — is that women don’t often have in-depth conversations about money with one another.

Yes, friends may admit to struggling financially or even confess they’ve stayed in a relationship because they couldn’t imagine supporting themselves and their children alone. But women rarely teach each other financial strategies or share valuable resources.

Without these conversations, nothing changes. And time doesn’t stop. We’re all getting older. How long will you wait? Until the kids leave home? I understand that choice — I made it myself — but at some point, waiting turns into a missed opportunity.

Why I Focus on Women in Midlife and Beyond

My primary audience is women in their late 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond — women whose children are grown or who never had children. I hesitate to urge mothers of young children to start a business, because those early years deserve their attention. But I do encourage every woman to start learning about money and business now.

Here’s the truth: building wealth later in life requires different strategies than it does for a 20- or 30-year-old. You don’t have decades to let passive income grow. You need to create reliable active income first, then use the surplus to build long-term assets.

Finding Your Business Idea

The right business idea doesn’t have to be complicated. Look at the problems you’ve solved for yourself — chances are others are struggling with the same thing. Or draw from your professional skills. Remember, companies pay you less than the value you create for them. If they profit from your skills, you can too.

In my case, my unique skill is working with beginners. I can break down complex concepts into small, digestible steps — whether I’m teaching Latvian to English speakers, coaching entrepreneurs, or helping professionals enter the online business world.

Trauma-Aware Learning at a Different Pace

I’ve chosen to focus on midlife women because I understand how hormonal changes, caregiving roles, and toxic relationships can impact brain function and confidence. Many of my clients have lived with chronic or vicarious trauma.

They don’t want to be dismissed or “written off.” They still have dreams to fulfill — if only they had the right solutions. My approach combines compassion, slower pacing, and a strong belief that learning should be fun and achievable.

Introducing "She Knows Now"

All of this has shaped the program I’m building: She Knows Now — a business fundamentals program for beginners who are ready to explore entrepreneurship with clarity and confidence.

We’ll focus on:

Understanding the essentials of modern, online business
Breaking the process into small, manageable steps
Learning through play, experimentation, and real-world application

If you’d like to be on the waiting list, send me a message. You’ll be the first to know when enrollment opens.

A Quick Question for You

This episode was my first entirely unscripted one. Do you prefer me speaking this way, or do you like the fully scripted style better? Maybe a mix of both? I’d love to hear from you.

And if you or someone you know would make a great podcast guest, email me at support@shebecameceo.com for my guest guidelines.

Remember: the transformation starts with you. Until next time, lead boldly and speak your truth.
